Monday Motivator: Adam


As I get more involved in fitness, I continuously find new people who motivate and inspire me, both in my daily life and on social media. This blog segment is dedicated to those incredible guys and gals who give their all and have an admirable passion for fitness. These people have positively influenced my life, and I hope they can do the same for you.

This week’s Monday motivator is Adam van Koeverden (@avankoeverden). Adam is a Canadian sprint kayaker who has won 4 Olympic medals: Gold and Bronze in 2004, as well as Silver in 2008 and 2012.

As you know if you watched my story, I went to some wineries this weekend, and Adam happened to be at one of them! I was lucky enough to meet him and chat with him briefly about his Olympic experiences and my aspirations in the fitness industry.


Adam’s home club is the Burloak Canoe Club in Oakville, Ontario and in 2008 Oakville’s mayor named a street after him near the canoe club.

Adam has done a ton of amazing things in his life so far. Besides competing and medalling at multiple Olympic games, he has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in support of Water Aid Canada, he has walked in Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, he has traveled to Liberia with Right to Play, and so much more.

His instagram also has a lot of pictured featuring his dog Cairo, and who doesn’t love dog pics???

Adam has gone above and beyond his athletic abilities and gives back to the world in so many ways. He’s a wonderful example of how you can change lives and make a difference through fitness. Thank you for all you do Adam. Keep being amazing.
